Samatvam Trust sponsored a couple of health camps in association with Rotary Club of Chennai, Riviera at Alandur Municipal School and PSBB School, Chennai.
Gynecologists, Dr. Chitra and Dr. Akshaya addressed the girls and emphasized the importance of good health, nutrition, sanitation and hygiene.
The doctors gave a scientific explanation of the menstruation cycle and the issues associated with it like cramps, bloated feeling, tiredness, acne and pimples. There was an interactive session wherein the girls clarified all their doubts with regard to their general and menstrual health. The doctors also advised the girls on proper hygiene during menstruation and aspects of sanitation. The importance of a balanced diet and inculcating healthy eating habits were emphasized. Issues on mental and emotional health and well-being were addressed and the girls were advised to engage in exercise and physical activity.
As part of the health camp, sanitary napkins and dates were distributed to the girls.
